Mother Teresa's long crisis of "the dark night"

Surely you have heard about the newly published book, "Mother Teresa: Come Be My Light."  It's a collection of her letters to such people as her spiritual advisers, talking about the dynamics going on in her soul.  This kind of darkness is a very comon experince  of the saints.  It's basically this: that the soul is so enflamed with love of God, that God withdraws His consolations from the soul, so that all external and internal comfort from the faith is lacking.  God allows this, as is evident from the stories of many saints, so that the soul passes the test of believing in God despite all evidence to the contrary.  At this level of sanctity God wishes to the soul to achieve the height of faith born from what is called "naked faith."  To read more about this go to:  http://eppc.org/publications/pubID.3113/pub_detail.asp
